'Bally' was born in Nuneaton in 1878 and died also in Nuneaton, in 1946.
Bertima was the son of an Italian-born tailor, and was also respected as a Nuneaton Ivanhoe cricketer and a capable sprinter.
In 1901 he was noted as an iron turner; in 1911 as an engine fitter.
He joined his brother Fred, a goalkeeper, at Atherstone in 1899.
