Denis holds the Gresley record for 317 consecutive appearances over seven seasons.
On 17th April 1970 Brian Clough brought his Second Division Championship side to the Moat Ground for a testimonial game for both Denis and Gordon Duggins.
During 1975-76 season Denis became the player-manager and resigned in 1978.
Sadly Denis died on 1st July 2012
