Quorn vs Gresley Rovers

The reserves visited Quorn in the league on Saturday looking for their first points of the season. Illness and first team call ups meant changes from the previous weeks team.

Rovers started brightly and took the game to the hosts, enjoying lengthy periods of play in the home team's half, Quorn had their first real attack in the 20th minute and scored with a speculative shot from 25 yards.

Again after the restart, Rovers took the game to the hosts with Waite causing the keeper to pull of a top draw stop after he'd fumbled a long range shot from Miller.

Time and time again Barker and Draycott broke down the flanks and caused the home team all kinds of trouble, debutante striker Roffey caused Quorn all kinds of trouble in the air, but still Rovers couldn't convert their dominance into goals.

Then again, just before the break, another speculative shot from 25 yards plus, dipped over the keeper, 2-0 to the home side - how!?

In the second half Gresley maintained their dominance and held tight at the back with a commanding performance from debutante Danny Cox. Fellow defender Andy Harrison was yet again outstanding at right back along with captain Sandar and Matt Brown also both solid at the back.

Towards the end of the game Quorn took a bit more of a hold, and showed their superior fitness over the last quarter of an hour enjoying their best period of possession, but without adding to the score line.

To summarise Rovers have turned a corner with this game, and although their dominance and effort didn't pay off on this occasion it will do very soon!
