Gresley Rovers vs Boldmere St Michael's

Saturday saw our second home game of the season against Boldmere St Michaels - the form team of the last few seasons in the league.

We also saw the welcome return of Chris Mawbey after a lay off through suspension.

Our visitors took control from the off, scoring their first after just two minutes, they added numbers two and three before the half hour mark, we were being out run, out tackled and out fought all over the park.

Changes were made on 35 minutes - Blackshield and Waite replaced J. Brown and Brady, dividends paid straight away as both were involved in Bryan Barker's 25-yard cracker.

At half time we went in 3-1 down.

The second half started as badly as the first, with us conceding within five minutes, 4-1.

We replied all most instantly, with M. Brown driving a quality 30-yard pass down the line to Blackshield, who danced round two defenders and coolly slotted the ball past the keeper, 4-2.

Bartram replaced the injured Harrison with 30 minutes to go.

Boldmere then turned up the pressure and we were sadly lacking in all areas, with no answer to their ability and enthusiasm, they ran out eventual winners comfortably 7-2.

To summarise our visitors were head and shoulders above us on the day, and showed a great desire to win, where as we were woefully lacking.

Next week sees the visit of Barwell in the cup, lets hope we can stop the rot sooner rather than later.
