Ilkeston Town vs Gresley Rovers

ILKESTON
TOWN RESERVES 1 - 1 ROVERS RESERVES

WEDNESDAY
18TH APRIL - RESERVE DIVISION

Rovers
looked to have recorded a well-earned victory against
an experienced Ilkeston side in this Midland Combination
reserve division fixture until a spectacular last
minute equaliser denied a determined Rovers side 3
points. Rovers took the lead mid way through the 1st
half after a defensive header from Gary Norton found
Kevin Allsop in space an the big striker unleashed
an unstoppable shot which flew into the net of the
underside of the bar from 20 yards. Youth teamers
Matt Moran and Carl Timms started for Rovers and both
saw lots of the ball as Rovers pushed to increase
their lead before the break. Moran, Wagstaff and Allsop
all had chances but failed to add to the lead. HT
0 : 1
Ilkeston pressed for long periods of the second half
but Rovers defended superbly and keeper Ian Wright
made two notable saves to keep Rovers lead in tact.
Ian Bluck, had to go off with a recurring knee problem
in the 80th minute and without cover Rovers rearranged
and coped admirably until a superb 25 yard effort
found its way into the top corner giving Ian Wright
in the Rovers goal no chance. FT 1-1
