Gresley Rovers vs Chasetown

Gresley Rovers Reserves 0 - 6 Chasetown Reserves

This was a heavy home defeat but to be perfectly honest the winning margin could have been even greater than it was.

Chasetown were soon on top with Rovers' keeper Stuart Haywood having to make two good saves within the first four minutes.

Unfortunately, he then made a poor kick and the ball landed nicely for Karl Edwards to slot the ball into the empty net.

Chasetown then rattled the woodwork before Edwards made scoring look very easy to slot home number two. The visitors were proving to be a handful for the Rovers defence and it was only a good touch by Haywood pushing the ball onto the post and then producing a good save to deny Craig Hancox that kept the score down.

The keeper could do nothing to prevent the third Chasetown goal when Liam Hearns turned on the edge of the box and fired past the stranded keeper.

The fourth goal came a s a result of some very hesitant defending allowing Edwards to impressively slalom around several defenders and keeper before walking the ball into the empty net to complete his hat trick.

The pressure didn't relent in the second half with the visitor's adding two more even though they seemed to have taken their foot of the pedal somewhat.

Within minutes of the re-start the impressive Edwards had a shot blocked by the keeper who reacted well to deny Robert Meacham with another fine block at his near post.

On the hour Chasetown scored their fifth of the afternoon when Edwards slipped the ball past the keeper.

The afternoon rout was completed with fifteen minutes remaining when substitute James Welnitschek headed home at the far post.
