Brocton vs Gresley FC

The season finally has arrived for the Reserve Team and it started in unknown territory at Brocton FC in the Challenge Bowl Round One.

We started the game well and for the first 10 -15 minutes we competed and worked hard, then started to settle and play our passing game, which caused them a few problems.

In the first half alone we must have had at least six or seven corners delivered with quality by Andy Dunn but we failed to attack the ball and I feel we could of done better.

To be fair to Brocton they created two or three decent chances, which they will be disappointed they didn't take advantage of before half time.

The second half again we started the stronger side and again our pressure led to four or five corners, which again we failed to attack, I think we will be working on corners in training this week!

After about an hour I decided to freshen things up a little bringing on Pillinger for Collins, Rowland for Towle and Waite for Clarke this gave us a bit more strength going forward with Rowland sitting in behind the front two and we went to 3-5-2 for the last 25 minutes.

The game started to open up with Brocton bringing on two very quick lads up front and us pushing for the break through goal, which unfortunately never came, but in the end it was fair result for both sides.

Plenty of positives came out of it for us and hopefully we will build on this on Saturday at Heather St John's.
