Today we entertained Banbury United on a blustery Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for Banbury on the way to the Moat ground on the M40 at junction 11 there were delays due to a police incident which some of the Banbury players got caught in and didn't make it to the game which meant they only had bare eleven.

We started the first half very well putting Banbury under all sorts of pressure and had several good opportunities to take lead with some excellent work from Ash Franklin down our left who had the beating of their right back but his final ball sometimes lacked quality, and that was pretty much the story of the first 45 minutes.

Although on the half hour mark Franklin picked the ball up just outside the box took his defender on. Just as he was just about to pull the trigger, the defender got back but fouled the front man and a penalty was awarded which, with our usual penalty taker Chris Burnham travelling with the first team squad, Andy Dunn stepped up to calmly put the spot kick away and we went in at half time 1 - 0 up.

In the second half we were always going to be under some kind of pressure due to the strong wind but we held strong reducing Banbury to just long range shots.

After Banbury had their 15 - 20 min of pressure we pretty much dominated the rest of the game with numerous chances that again we failed to convert into goals, as I said to them after the final whistle we need to be a lot more clinical in front of goal if we are going to win games.

With about 15 min to go we managed to get our second with a cross from our left into the box. Sam Worth got a touch on it but it fell to Andy Elliott 12 yards out who had the simple job of passing in to the net.

The game ended 2 - 0 but should of been 5 had we'd have taken our chances.
