Barwell vs Gresley FC

This afternoon we visited Barwell which is always a difficult place to go and get anything from.

We started the game okay but it took us while to get into the pace of the game, not in the sense that the game was fast and furious because that was never going to be the case with the referee this afternoon who never let the game flow, but in the sense of us being pro active all over the pitch and not reactive.

Once we started to be pro active and anticipate we began to get some joy and we broke the deadlock on the 30 min mark when Paul Hollis cleared the ball from a goal kick which landed deep in the Barwell half.

Their back four failed to deal with it and Sam Worth gambled and nipped in to coolly finish slipping the ball under the keeper's body from 10 yards.

We went in at half time 1-0 up and probably undeservedly but we came out second half after making two substitutions Chris Burnham on for Andy Elliott who was complaining of some discomfort with his ankle and Joe Swift on for Ash Franklin.

Barwell started the stronger and put us under pressure for the first 20 - 25 minutes and they made that pressure tell when on 75 minutes they equalised.

The manner in which they got their goal was a bit controversial. Our keeper thought he had both hands on the ball but the referee thought otherwise and gave the goal.

The last 10 -15 min was end to end and either side were capable of pinching the win but fair result overall.
