Today we visited Oadby Town in the league on what was a very soggy pitch which was always going to make it difficult to get the ball down and play our football, but to our credit we did try and sometimes to a fault.

We started the game well for the first 10 min and maybe should of taken the lead with a few half chances and a couple of goal mouth scrambles where the ball just didn't drop for us.

Inevitably Oadby came back into the game and put us under some pressure with their number 10 upfront who was lively all game.

Oadby's game plan was clear from the start, to give it to their full backs and clip the ball into the channels to try to get in behind us and to be fair to them they did it well and on 35 min Oadby got their breakthrough when a mix up between goal keeper and defenders allowed their player to nip in and slot the ball home to make it 1-0 and it stayed that way till half time.

Second half we again started the better side and within the space of 10 min we created four or five very good chances but failed to take advantage of them.

With the pitch cutting up the game became a bit scrappy but we still tried to get the ball down and play. Then on 70 min Oadby again capitalised on some sloppy defending and with a deflected shot that looped over the keeper they went 2-0 up and then it was just a case of throwing everything forward to try and get something out of the last 20 min.

I changed the formation to 3-5-2 bringing on Mat Draycott for Darryl Towle and Alex Rowland for Sam Worth to give us some fresh legs this left us a little exposed at the back but we had nothing to lose.

We still surged forward and put Oadby under pressure but still couldn't find the breakthrough we needed so for the last 5 min we went 3-3-4 but to no avail and the score stayed at 2-0.

Today's performance was a little disappointing after last week's although I couldn't fault the effort and determination. But we need to find some consistency in our performances and a little more quality in the final third.
