Gresley FC vs Coalville Town

MIDLAND COMBINATION RESERVE DIVISION CHALLENGE BOWL
GRESLEY 1 - 1 COALVILLE TOWN

On a pleasant late summer afternoon the reserves had to share the spoils at the Moat Ground in front of a healthy crowd of around 70 against a Coalville reserve side managed by ex Gresley Andy Dunn and Dave Williams with ex-player Paul Hollis in goal.

A cagey opening saw both sides probing but after 14 minutes a long ball from the left found Wisniewski clear and he finished easily to put Coalville ahead.

An injury to the referee held up the game for a few minutes and just after the restart a quick break saw the goalkeeper making a good block but the ball came out to the skipper Steve Mullett who slammed the ball home to equalise for the home side in the 25th minute.

The opening of the second half saw Coalville pressure Gresley but the introduction of Minshull and Newbold seemed to revitalise the home team and in truth they should have won the game comfortably with both Bourne and Minshull finishing weakly.

In the closing ten minutes Hollis made a couple of good saves but then in the 85th minute a long free-kick saw him miss the ball completely and the defender Baker somehow half screwed the ball across the open goal with no Gresley player close enough to pounce.

Further pressure came to nothing so the game ended all square to leave Gresley with 4 points from two games.
