Gresley Rovers vs Castle Vale

Unfortunately lady luck was not with us this evening, two very closely matched teams played a very hard fought match with only a few chances being created by either team.

Gresley's best chances came from an early strike from captain Dan Foster, a rocketing strike from a good thirty yards that made the keeper pull off a good save, two free kicks from man of the match Tom Skinner that went very close and sub Alex Boult gave the keeper some work late on. Performances from Brian Barker, Tom Skinner, Dan Foster and Chris Mawby impressed.

Without players like Ben Callwelly, Leon Dolman and Kris Vernon it was rewarding to see strength in depth quality enough to give a top team like Castle Vale a run for their money.

A late strike from vales forward earned them the points from very tired defending but I don't think anyone who watched the game would say that they were the better team.

Thanks again to all the ground staff for their hospitality especially Colin and Ernie who seem to look after us on their own.
