Gresley Rovers vs Seal Inn

Gresley Rovers Youth 2 - 3 Seal Inn

Scorer: Smith 2

Team; Stu Haywood, Danny Gee, Karl Whymark, Gaz Jones(c), Liam Chisholm, Olly
Baum, Dean Acton, Matt Holmes, Chris Smith, John Whetton, Steve Pepper Sub. Zak Venning

With Tom Allan called up for the reserves Stu Haywood got a well deserved chance to play in goal having played at right back last week to help out. We again struggled to get a team together through injuries and other commitments however Liam signed on the day and played at right back (not his preferred position) but played really well. John also travelled from Derby to play and again showed his quality up front along with another new signing Steve Pepper. I thought both did really well, worked hard, and looked threatening every time we broke forward.

The game started and to be honest we played all the football first half and although went a goal behind still looked threatening on every attack. Then Chris Smith equalised after a great chip in from Dean and that's how it stayed till half time.

Again second half we went behind for Chris to again draw us level and to be fair I think a draw would have been fair to both teams however with 10 minutes to go Seal had a shot which hit the crossbar then fell to a player clearly offside and the ref overruled the linesman and gave the goal? Still we could have won the game if we'd have taken our chances but it was not to be. Don't normally call the referee but 5 or 6 cautions in a game played in good spirits from both sides think was a bit over the top?

Man of match; Chris Smith scored 2 and was quality down the left wing
