It was the Marstons' Junior Cup semi-final, and thanks to all at Gresley for allowing us to play on The Moat, against The Red Lion who are top of the league above
us. A special thank you to the ground staff for working all day on Friday to get the pitch playable after Thursday's downpour.

We had a good team talk about the quality of our opponents before the game, and started off well. It was a typical cup game with both sides making chances, but on 25 minutes they took theirs and we were 1-0 down. They made it 2-0 before half time, and to be honest it was a little flattering to them.

Second half we played even better, but 10 minutes in, were 3-0 down with a penalty so it was going to be even more daunting, or so I thought. We never lost our shape or desire though, and pressed them in every position. We split
their defence many times, and it was either a good save from the keeper or an unlucky bounce, which denied us. However, we pulled it back to 3-2 with goals from, Chris Smith and Tom Fletcher and could have easily won with the
chances we made. With 5 minutes left they put the game out of our reach when they caught us on the break.

So in our first season we've reached two semi-finals and at the moment are still top of our league, and with today's performance we should be very proud! I think
that we showed how good we are and with a little bit of luck could have won today, but it was not to be. We played good football and gave the Red Lion lots of problems, so lets be proud and keep working to achieve our goal!
Reserves then hopefully first team in the future. WELL DONE ALL OF YOU.

No mom today because we played like a team so we're all MOM
